What to Expect When Hiring Me as Your Birth Photographer in Seattle

Welcoming your baby into the world is one of the most powerful, emotional, and transformative experiences of your life. The moments surrounding birth are fleeting — As a birth photographer in Seattle, my role is to preserve those moments with honesty, tenderness, and care so you can look back and truly feel them again.

If you’re considering hiring me to document your baby’s birth, here’s what you can expect from the experience — from our first conversation to the moment you hold your final images in your hands.

1. A Connection Built on Trust

Birth is deeply personal. Before I ever bring out my camera, I take the time to get to know you — your birth plan, your hopes, and what matters most to you about this experience. Whether we meet over coffee or through a video chat, we’ll talk about how you envision your birth space and what moments you want to remember.

I want you to feel completely comfortable knowing that I’ll be a calm, respectful presence in your birth space — someone who understands when to step in quietly and when to step back and let the moment unfold naturally.

2. On-Call Support and Peace of Mind

When you book your birth session, I go on call for you beginning at 39 weeks until your baby arrives. That means I plan to stay close to home in case things happen quickly. That means my phone is always on, my gear is ready, and I’m available day or night. You can focus fully on labor and delivery knowing I’ll be there as soon as you need me. If it looks like baby will be arriving earlier than 39 weeks , I will do my best to be there. Communication with any updates is always helpful.

When your labor begins, you or your partner can simply send a text or call, and I’ll head your way once you’re in active labor. I typically arrive when things are progressing steadily — giving enough time to capture the full story without disrupting your rhythm.

3. Quiet Observation, Meaningful Documentation

My goal during your birth is to blend seamlessly into your birth team. I move quietly, respecting your space, your emotions, and the energy in the room. You’ll often forget I’m there — and that’s exactly how I want it.

I focus on capturing the details you might miss in the moment: the way your partner holds your hand, your care team’s gentle encouragement, your baby’s first breath, and the tears of joy that follow.

Every image tells part of your story — one that deserves to be remembered exactly as it unfolded.

4. After Birth: The First Hours and the Full Story

I stay for around one to two hours after your baby arrives to document those precious first moments — skin-to-skin snuggles, first feeds, tiny fingers, and introductions with siblings or grandparents if they’re present. These images are often some of the most meaningful for families, capturing the love and excitement of this exciting time.

5. The Gallery: Reliving Your Birth Story

Within two to three weeks after your birth, you’ll receive a beautifully curated gallery of images that tell your full story from start to finish. I believe your birth photos should feel timeless — full of emotion, strength, and connection — not just a record of what happened, but a reflection of the love and courage it took to bring your baby into the world.

Included in your session fee are all edited high resolution images in your gallery. Your gallery is private and shareable (if you wish).

6. Why Families Choose Birth Photography

Many families tell me they originally weren’t sure if they wanted a birth photographer — until they saw their gallery and realized how much of their story they would have missed otherwise.

Birth moves fast. The details fade quickly. Having someone there to document it allows you to see yourself in that strength and to remember just how powerful your story really is.
